Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)

TOXIC AND PRESENT IN OUR IN- AND OUT-DOOR ENVIRONMENT

What are Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)?
We are unconsciously inhaling some “unhealthy odors” in the indoor and outdoor environment. Do you like the interior odor of your new car? Recent surveys prove that these odors, that are mainly Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), may cause adverse effects on health.

Emitted as gas from certain solids and liquids, VOC affects the environment and the health of human beings:

  • Environmental effects: ozone formation, damages to the materials and buildings
  • Human Health effects: skin and eye irritation, cancer, etc.

More and more countries announced a voluntary guideline which was to reduce the concentration levels of VOC in consumer products.
